Look Out World – We’re Back!

25 Jul

Woo-hoo! Woo-hoo! I have my computer back; and I have lots to tell you!

When we last left Bushranger, she was bobbing happily at the marina in Frankfort Michigan. What you didn’t know was that we were picking up a new crewmember at Frankfort. Let me introduce you to Willy…

…as you can see, Willy is a “most excellent” crewmember. Not only does he know how to tote-that-barge and lift-that-bale, but he wields a mean scrub brush and had Bushranger gleaming and glistening in the Michigan sunshine.

Knowing that little Bushranger was in such capable hands, I departed the crew and sequestered myself at Willy’s mum’s house and consumed copious amounts of homemade dinners and more savory and sweet delights than I can remember (unfortunately, my waistline remembers all that wonderful food very clearly).

Thank you Joan, Sally and Bev for a wonderful mini-vacation.

So, while I was whiling away the cool summer days at Joan’s place…

… Boyd and Willy were making significant progress cutting through Lake Michigan’s many miles. Here’s what the captain had to say:

“We left Frankfort at 0645. Wind was 10-15 kts with waves 3ft for the first couple of hours when the wind dropped. The second half of the passage was easy with a small swell.
We did 64 miles with a single course alteration at Big Sable Point.

We arrived at Pentwater at 1435 and tied up at Snug Harbor at 1445. This is pretty little town/village and a nice marina.”

…you can tell I didn’t write that, can’t you? …it’s so efficient and succinct!…

The next day, Bushranger pulled out early, traveled 67 more Lake Michigan miles and settled into Pigeon Lake (Willy’s home port, so-to-speak) where she was sweetly anchored.

Morning came and off she went to beautiful Holland Michigan, bearing not only her augmented crew (of Boyd, Willy and me) but also Joan and Sally.

Holland is the home of Hope College and, as its name implies, is chock full of wooden shoes, tulips and charm.

We were happy to secure Bushranger at the Anchorage Marina and disappear for the weekend (for important family business – okay, fine, you dragged it out of me! We had to party at a family reunion at Traverse City, but I think I’ll spare you the details since this blog is already WAY too long. All I can say is that I am a very lucky woman to have such a wonderful family).

So, you are now caught up and my fingers are growing calluses from all this typing. Please don’t expect all future blogs entries to be this long….uffff!
