The Land of the Groundhogs

11 Jun

Boyd and I took a long walk today (to check out the first of the locks of the Trent-Severn) and saw at least eight groundhogs!

I mention that upfront for no other reason than they are such cute critters! But that’s not really what this blog entry is about.

I could talk about the town of Trenton and how tidy and accessible it is, but I won’t…

I could talk about the beauty of the landscape in this part of Canada, but that’s not my agenda either…

Nope, I want to talk about how Bushranger seems to have fallen into marina nirvana…

But first a bit of background.
While wandering around this Great Loop of ours, Bushranger and her crew have gotten used to being rather flexible when it comes to marina facilities. We’ve docked at marinas where half the dock was under water. We’ve used laundries where I had to pay $5 a load for a machine coated in spider webs. But most memorably, we’ve docked at places where we had to walk through mud to arrive at a toilet/shower that was a dark, dank port-a-potty with a broken lock.

But not today! Today, Bushranger is bobbing gently at Trent Port Marina.

The docks are brand new, the staff are helpful and efficient, the toilets are modern and spotless, and the laundry is full of FREE commercial machines! Take a look…

…yes, we have fallen into heaven!
So, I think I’ll close this blog with some words of wisdom that were given to us at one of Trenton’s trendy restaurants…

…words to live by, don’t ya’ reckon?
