Slicing Through the Big Apple!

Isn’t it wonderful when all the planets align, the biorhythms get in sync, and the dice come up straight 7s….that was today!

Remember our friends Chris and Dennis from Daufuskie Island? They happened to be on the 38th floor of the Marriott Hotel in New York, waiting to board a cruise ship to the United Kingdom. Knowing we were coming, Dennis (who is an outstanding photographer) put his telephoto lens on his camera and captured highlights of our New York harbor adventure…

We left Staten Island, anticipating a semi-rough crossing (we’d been told horror stories about the ferries that scoot back and forth across the harbor). Our first obstacle was the Verrazano Bridge – too easy…

Verrazano Bridge

…then it got interesting. Yep, that’s little-ol’-us in the black circle behind the green buoy. At times we felt like a helpless sardine swimming is a school of sharks! …

…suddenly, we were skipping past the New York skyline and beautiful Lady Liberty…

…and Ellis Island…

…next came Battery Point (the ‘Colgate clock’ is on the New Jersey side right opposite lower Manhattan’s Battery Point)…

…which was the start of our journey up past the majestic cliffs of the Hudson River…

Ya’ know what?…this is exactly what we dreamt it would be like, when we imagined ‘doing the Great Loop’…

Too Cool!!! What great photos and memories! Carol says she would have to consume great quantities of dramamine to get through that maze!

OMG I can’t believe you were doing that! It must have felt like the first time you had sex! As you’re doing it you’re saying, “OMG I’m finally doing this!!!!” HOW LUCKY are you to have those unreal friends photographing you sailing in???!!! Such precision timing! Is he ex-Navy too? The scene is scintilating. Love the river too. WOW! ❤

Lol, even a Jersey girl would call them ‘cliffs’, to New Yorker’s with the view: The Palisades !
