Navy Norfolk

We’ve been playing at the Navy base in Norfolk, Virginia.

You remember our cool little fold-up bikes, don’t you?

Well, we unfolded them and buzzed all around the Navy base .  They sure do have some BIG boats around here (I’m just pullin’ you navy guys’ chains — I know they’re SHIPS!).

This weekend was a weekend for friends – both old and new.

First, we had a chance to get together with an old friend, Ken Nordahl. Boyd and Ken go wayyyyyy back! …and we also got to raise a glass in celebration. Ken was just notified of his promotion to Commander in the Australian Navy Reserves! Excellent! …so very cool!

Second, we had a chance to meet some new friends. Joe and Sarah (and Rosie the Labrador) have a trawler that is a lot like Bushranger, except she’s blue and white! …and she’s beautiful! I knew immediately that we were going to be simpatico when I saw that Sarah is growing tomatoes on the back deck of their boat!

Tomorrow we hope to continue our journey north. There’s lots to see, a whole bucket of old friends to catch up with and new friends to discover (don’t I sound a bit like PollyAnna?…I just can’t help myself sometimes…)

I came by to water the tomato plant today and saw you had departed Norfolk. I hope the run up to Deltaville was smooth (and dry). Sarah and I enjoyed meeting you guys and hope to follow your adventures on the blog. Take care.
