River Dunes Marina

It’s raining on Bushranger.  Not – “oh dear, it’s really pouring out there!” type of rain; rather – “doesn’t the rain make a lovely sound on the deck?” type of rain. The weather is not really a concern for us right now. You see, Bushranger is currently nestled in what seems to be boating heaven – the River Dunes Marina.

This lovely marina is in a private lake off a beautifully chiseled channel, which is off of Parris Creek, which is off Broad Creek, which is off the Pamlico Sound (which happens to be in North Carolina). It is a strange but beautiful place. Someone has taken a chunk of land in the middle of the forests of North Carolina and developed it into a very up-market housing development.

It has huge homes (although there are more ‘lots’ than completed homes at this point),

a club house with restaurant, pool/spa,

workout room, rental kayaks and canoes, tennis courts, chapel, and (of course) a marina. They are currently building a General Store and Café.

So, Bushranger’s crew has decided to spend a few days here. Not only will we be able to relax and catch up on some logistics (laundryroom, here I come…) but we’ll avoid all the crazies that spill into the US waterways on the 4th of July weekend. Good plan, don’t ‘cha reckon?

What a spectacular placed to celebrate the Fourth of July! Seems like it’s time to relax a bit and enjoy some well earned R&R.
