I Swear It Looked Like a Buoy!

22 May

Bushranger is on the move again.  We’re chugging across Florida; planning to spend the night in a town called Stuart…

…so, I’m confidently chugging up the middle of the channel (we’ve heard all sorts of horror stories of boats hitting logs or running aground, since the Water Authority has already lowered the channel’s water level to accommodate the anticipated summer floods), when I notice a black blob near the right bank of the waterway.

Now, in the past, I have noticed that many of the red and green buoys that guide us through these waterways may have started out life as red/green but quickly became a yucky black with mold and age — so a black blog on the right side of the waterway was not surprising….that side must be a bit shallower than the rest of the channel.

Well, I was right on that account – the water WAS shallow.  What I thought was a buoy was really a cow, standing knee deep in the water! Definitely too shallow for our little Bushranger!

So, we’ve made it to Stuart and even have some time to catch up on admin (hence, this blog!).  It’s another lovely evening in balmy Florida.

This conversation reminds me of a joke I heard yesterday… Why did the turtle cross the road?
He wanted to get to the shell station!!!
        Have a great day!
