Wonderful Dunedin

20 Apr

Every once in a while, life presents you with an opportunity to take a deep, cleaning breath. After rushing around, dodging crab pots, leaping white-capped waves, and grabbing hold of any available rail to keep from sliding across the floor (with occasional embarrassing result of that ‘grabbed rail’ yelping and grabbing an additional ‘rail’), you end up in that perfect, ‘sweet spot’, where peace reigns….

…how’s that for a segue into our next location!?…

We made it to Dunedin – and it was worth every crab pot dodge! What a beautiful place!

Of course, it helped that we meet up with one of our old friends, Bob (his name isn’t really Bob – but , he’s very careful about his internet ‘footprint’) (and, Bob, I’m not really calling you old…just that we’ve known each other for quite a long time, although, really, none of us can currently be categorized as spring chickens).

Bob and Boyd
You see, Bob and Minerva live in Clearwater, Florida, which is a stone’s throw away from where Bushranger currently sits. And, even though our timing was not perfect (Minerva was away so couldn’t come say ‘hi’ – which was such a loss, since she is one of my favorite people), Bob put his harbor-host hat on and dedicated his day to making sure we made some great memories. So, with his help, we achieved the nearly perfect day, starting with breakfast overlooking the St. Joseph Sound……

…next, we explored the quaint town of Dunedin, ending up at a great ice cream place (and, if you have followed our blog for any time at all, you KNOW how important ice cream is!)…

…chauffeured to the local shops for our resupply, then on to Bob’s place for a cold beer and walk down memory lane…
…and finally to a really cool Greek restaurant in Tarpon Springs (and, silly me, I forgot to take a photo of the place – but it was really cool!).

So, Dunedin has taken first place in our collection of wonderful Bushranger stops so far. Next, place – who knows?

Passed through Dunedin yesterday on our way to Clearwater Beach,
not a good day for boating, you did well to enjoy the land sights on
such a day. Why we are glad to have retired in this area of Florida.
Send me an e-mail … I’ll gladly send you a photo or two of Tarpon Springs
and include a shot of the goodies in the Hella’s Restaurant and Bakery window.
Love, hugs and happy sailing … ME and the Boss

…I guess we did the ‘ship in the night’ thing — although it was during the day, and it was cars…I’m sorry we didn’t ‘bump’! 😉
