Welcome to Steinhatchee

15 Apr

Well, we did it! We transited the Gulf of Mexico.  True, we did not do the long 200 mile slog that many loopers seem to prefer; but, then again, Bushranger is not the fastest boat in the fleet and I’m just not that good at staying up all night watching for crab pots (remember, we only travel at 7 miles per hour)…

…but, I digress…

…Bushranger left Dog Island this morning at about 8 am, and coasted into Steinhatchee at 7 pm (it was a longggg day)….and we fought for every nautical mile.  The Gulf was supposed to have 2 foot seas (which would have been challenging) but actually had at least 3 foot seas! So, there was no lollygagging or wool-gathering — oh, no! That helm was firmly manned throughout!

Steinhatchee

And, now we get a day off (or maybe more if the weather gods insist) to recover before the next adventure.

I bet that marina was a welcome sight. Hopefully the Gulf will be kinder to you when you resume your looping in a day or two. Enjoy a well deserved day of rest. Maybe there’s a good coffee or ice cream shop.

Yay LA and Boyd, what fun! You deserve to relax after that portion! Umbrella drinks are in order!
    Hugs from Bev and Willy

Well done on the Gulf of Mexico transit! How did Bushranger’s seaworthiness hold up? And all those secure-for-sea arrangements you installed?
