Bushranger’s crew has increased by 50 percent! Yep, Boyd and I have been having the best time with Bronny (aka ‘Biscuit’…hmmm, I bet there’s a story behind that nickname….) who has graciously volunteered to pen today’s Bushranger entry. So, without further ado…

“I woke late in Pensacola; cruisy, lazy, holiday time. A quick coffee at the local coffee shop

– almost a flat white –

and we were running through checklists, disconnecting shore power and drawing up the fenders before backing out and rolling away.

This morning, finally, it was sunny and felt almost warm. A contrast to yesterday’s grey rain. Bushranger sliced easily through channel water in the deep harbour out of Pensacola.

My father, the man who has always done things properly, has transferred this habit to his MV; everything has a place and there are odds and ends squirreled away everywhere. Nothing is superfluous. There is a Spartan quality to Bushranger yet its passengers have everything required. For each operation there is a checklist, the wise man’s acknowledgement that memory is fallible and everything can be operationalised; so, for the first time, I was able to help start a boat.

Bushranger was underway for four hours to return from Florida to Alabama. Dolphins came to play

Mrs Bushranger served up a mezze lunch under the bimini, and we left a gentle wake.

Even I had a turn navigating the narrow channels of the Intracoastal Waterway.

Just before sunset, we pulled into The Wharf Marina, Orange Beach AL, where everything is calm and quiet and beautiful.

Bushranger’s going to take a few days here before putting over to Fairhope, AL, for some TLC.”

…thanks, Bronny!
