The City of Mobile

6 Dec

I don’t understand it…Loopers (ya’ know, those folks that buy a boat then do the “Great Loop” around America) are famous for finding and exploring the quaint and lovely by-ways of this country. They love to chat and tell you all about discovering a little known museum about mustard or maple syrup or some such condiment — or a cafe run by the sister-in-law of some country western singer/brother of some race car driver/third cousin (twice removed) of some Star Trek actor that makes the BEST grits/hush puppies/fried pickles/etc.  So, given that Loopers love finding discarded or undiscovered treasures, why don’t they talk about Mobile, Alabama?

It is a lovely city! It looks like what New Orleans should have looked like if it hadn’t been commercialized (and then flattened by a hurricane).

Mobile homes

From the French influenced grill-work of the antebellum homes to the towering skyline, metal twines and climbs like ivy throughout the neighborhoods and into the heavens.

We even found a coffee shop that knew how to make an affogato (if you don’t know what an affogato is, my heart bleeds for you).

…I know, I’m SUCH a coffee snob!…

You are so right! Mobile is lovely and is trying diligently to keep the charm and beauty of their city. Enjoy!

And didn’t it make your mouth water? You should try it with your new Nespresso!
