23 May

Yep, yesterday was MAD! What I mean is, yesterday was Move Aboard Day (MAD). Can ya believe it?!? After all this time, Bushranger is finally our home…and what a madhouse preparing for the day!

First on the agenda, we needed a place to sleep.  The mattress that came with the boat was a disgrace, so out it went.  We needed a strange size mattress (a short/RV queen), and the mattress would need to fit through the smallish entryway. So, we found Bed in a Box!Bed in a box

It’s kind of like a Tempurpedic on growth hormones.  When you take it out of the box, it expands to fill the frame. Tah-dah!

Boyd has also fitted out my cupboards/cabinets with shelves

and installed our new TV. Even the new microwave has arrived!

Did I mention that Boyd also installed a new windlass! So, no hauling heavy anchors up and down for me…no sir! Now, it’s as easy as a push of a button!

That’s not to say there’s nothing left to do.  We’re still waiting on our cabinet makers to bring back one of our kitchen drawers (they’re fitting it with custom dividers) and make our air conditioning cabinet…and I’m not even going to talk about anything even remotely related to the engine room. But for now, we are aboard!…and it’s a whole new perspective!

We can see the Inland Waterway from our house-filled-with-moving-boxes windows. We’ll watch for you and keep a slip at the Haig Point Dock ready for you! I was going to ask when SAD was (Sail Away Day) but that’s an awful acronym!

Haig Point…we’ve got it now…but don’t be surprised if it takes us a bit of time to get there…but we will get there eventually!
