We Have Splash Down

8 Nov

The mist hung on the sailboat masts like cobwebs….

…the sun was just trying to break through the morning haze…it was a perfect day for a ‘splash down’…

So we tried it again…

Up she goes again…

…over to the water…

…into the water…

…no leaks so far…

…Billy Jacks gets the tug (Bushranger can’t run under her own power yet)…

…and gives Bushranger a friendly nudge (note the proud Captain up front)…

…into the covered slip…

…her new ‘home sweet home’…

…slip # E40…

…at the moment, her bilge is bone dry. Does Boyd look happy, or what!?!

Hearty congratulations on getting Bushranger into the water! A wonderful documentary of the event and a fantastic retirement project. When do you sail on the “loop.?” Bill and Dumi

Thanks, Bill. We’re still a long way from starting our loop adventure. We’re taking 2 months off over the holiday to spend time with family, then we need to start hooking up all the systems (electrics, fuel, etc.). …but, today, we are soooo much closer than we were yesterday! Love to Dumi

YEAH Bushranger!! Welcome to the waterways, it is a ton more interesting than being on the hard.

So true! ….feels funny with the floor gently moving back and forth…but, no worries, I’m sure I’ll get used to it.

….Bushranger looks proud and handsome in the water!!

She does doesn’t she? I think she’s one of the striking boats; very traditional lines. Even though the teak is a lot of work, it’s worth.

Congratulations and well done. An awesome effort.

    • Mrs Bushranger November 9, 2012 at 06:29 #

Thanks, Paul! We’re getting that much closer to ‘the loop’. But, I think it’s time to take a bit of a recovery break. We’ll spend the next couple of months with family and come back refreshed.

Beautiful photos. It’s exciting to see Bushranger after the earlier photos of her former past.
Well done: incredible effort and dedication to get to this point!

It has certainly taken us a bit longer than we thought it would. She does look beautiful, doesn’t she?

Thanks guys. It’s been an interesting time so far….and we’re not quite ready to set sail; but we hope to see you on the loop sometime next year. xxoo

    Congratulations! Your patience is rewarded!

    Love Rob and Howie xxx

Patience or hardheadedness, whatever you want to call it, has gotten us this far. Now what we need is for Bushranger to figure out how to travel under her own steam (we’ll figure that out in January). xxoo

Hi Carolyn. It’s so great to hear from you! We’re in the process of aligning the engine…then we have to do the electronics,…then the fuel system,…then the galley…so I think it’s going to be a while yet.
