The Final Thru-hull

12 Oct

We did it!  We finally completed the final thru-hull. After careful consideration and lots of research, Boyd determined the proper placement for the final thru-hull. It had to be the last one, because it is for the engine, and we needed to know exactly where and how the engine was going to sit in the engine room before we could drill through the hull.

…and now it’s done! It’s got the proper reinforcement, the proper caulking, the proper placement…so, I guess that makes it the proper thru-hull!

That’s what a ‘proper thru-hull’ looks like from the outside of the boat…

…and that’s what it looks like from the inside… note the cool handle; used to stop the flow of water into the boat if the unthinkable happens (like when water is rushing into the boat when we would rather it didn’t…).

Now, all we need is the new-new port fuel tank! (hopefully, it will be delivered today)

I’m going to be signing off for about a week.  I’ve got a hot date!

…FINE! …then, I guess you’all don’t consider meeting up with your sister and parents up in DC for a few days a ‘hot date’…all well…your loss…

The word forever seems like a long time, but if your with the person you love then forever isn’t long enough.

Congrats to you both on the final thru- hull. You really must be looking forward to your time in DC with your family. Enjoy the break – you’ve well and truly earned it (especially after the leak/no leak fuel tank affair).
