So Much Stuff to Report

7 Aug

Right! Let’s get to it!

Boyd has been a busy boy. Lots has happened in the past day. First, remember way back before we removed the old fuel tanks (yep, I’m talkin’ way, way back!) Boyd had to drain the diesel fuel from the old tanks. Also remember, he stored all that fuel in a bunch of 55 gallon drums. Good so far, right? Well, remember, we now have our shiny new fuel tanks installed. So the question then becomes, should we put the old fuel (that has been sitting not just in a bunch of 55 gallons drums from 9 months, but was probably sitting in two very old and rusty fuel tanks for I-don’t-know-how-long!) in our new tanks? Do we really want that suspect, cruddy fuel in our beautiful, new, pristine fuel tanks (even though, at today’s prices, that fuel is worth around $1500)? Not without some kind of surety, that’s for sure! So, my clever husband has figured out how to “polish” the fuel before it enters the new tanks. Take a look – Boyd calls it his MK1 Fuel Polisher

That old fuel goes through the polisher enroute to the new tanks.  The polisher will filter out water and crap in the diesel (we’ll add a biocide to kill the critters before we polish the fuel) before it can contaminate our new tanks. He’s such a smart guy, don’t ya’ think?

That handy guy of mine has also put the steering gear back together and rebuilt the hydraulic ram (ya’ know – the thing that gives the rudder a push to make the boat turn).

And on top of all that, I thought that you might like a better look at the new bathroom.

I don’t know about you, but I’m impressed!
