What’s Wrong With This Picture?

24 Jun

Let me preface this with the statement that I understand the importance of short-term efforts for long-term gains. I truly believe that you can have a much better tomorrow if you work hard today…

…that being said let me tell you about my view…

This little cabin in the woods is TRULY ‘in the woods’! It is surrounded by big trees and singing birds.  Every morning, Boyd makes us a cup of tea and some toast and we sit out on our balcony (it sits on three sides of the cabin) and enjoy the peace and quiet (and all the lovely bird songs).

So, now you understand how lucky we are to be in such a tranquil setting. It’s green and lush and restful. So, why is it that I spent the past 3 hours looking at this:

Yep, those are my grubby shoes holding that piece of wood (teak to be precise) that is being stripped by my yellow heat gun. I have just spent the day, appropriately garbed in work gloves, mask and goggles, stripping varnish from teak.

I can think of much better uses for our lovely deck…although it actually does make a pretty good woodworking area.

Instead of sitting on this lovely deck, sipping margaritas, I spent the day sweating and holding a heat gun (making the ambient temperature of 95 degrees f that much hotter).

Why, you ask? I can answer that very simply: because I can’t help myself. I want this boat to be something that, when we look at it, we smile…someday…

Thanks Dianne! Did you do ok with all the storms that went through your area?

I am glad there is a tranquil setting to work in…I assume it makes the teak work a little bit more tolerable. Couple more months and yes, you will both be SMILING!!!
