BoatHog Day

26 May

It’s “BoatHog Day”

So, we’re sittin’ there on our porch, drinking our tea, and I turned to Boyd and asked, “So, what’s on the agenda for today?” He didn’t miss a beat, and said, “Didn’t we just do this yesterday? I think we’re stuck in ‘BoatHog Day’” (for those of you who don’t see many movies, that’s a reference to the Bill Murray movie, Groundhog Day, where the main character is stuck living the same day over and over again until he gets it right).

I think Boyd is right; it IS BoatHog Day! Every day we wake up, have a cup of tea and toast, then a bit of breakfast before we hurry down to the boat. At the boat, Boyd jumps down into the bilge…

…that’s Boyd, doin’ his thing with the prop shaft…

…and I get out my dental tools to start working on caulking…

(that’s me, sitting under the canvas bridge cover, trying to avoid the hot sun while caulking)

The day just keeps repeating over and over. The only change seems to be the weather (it keeps getting hotter!). So, I wonder when we’ll get this day right, and be allowed to start a new and different day?

I love that movie! …and I normally don’t like Bill Murray, so it must be a great movie! I’ve decided to abandon the boat for the day, and plan on baking some bagels…a much better plan!
