A Busy Time

17 May

We’ve been flat out! Not only are there many things happening at the boat, but we have also moved to a new cabin.

The old cabin has been rented to someone else for the summer (it was in a premium spot overlooking the lake and right at the marina), so we had to relocate to a new cabin.  Unfortunately, the new cabin is not on the lake (it’s in the woods), nor is it as close to the marina (about 2 miles away), nor is it as big (two bedrooms rather than three), but it’ll work.

This is our new little cabin in the woods.

I still have a kitchen to play in and the bird life is lovely (although Koko is not please about having to establish all new routines again – I keep trying to explain to her that she has been adopted into a family of gypsies and should be used to packing up and moving – she is not impressed….).

Now, about the boat…Boyd has finished the floor in the forward bathroom…

…it looks pretty good, isn’t?

He has also finished the maintenance on the prop shaft casing…

…and removed two through-hull fittings (they let water in through the bottom of the boat so have a seacock attached) that are no longer required.  We will get the yard to fibreglass those holes.

I am working on the canvass covers (they need to be weatherproofed – kinda’ like ‘Scotch Guarding’) and I am removing the old grout from some of the detailing on the outer hull (it is a bit aged and is looking a bit frayed).

All of my brightwork is still just sitting there, waiting (it’s all stacked in the bathtube in the new cabin).  I just have to find some time for it.

Your new cabin looks lovely! I love the large porch. And yes, progress appears to happening on the boat. Yeah!
